Bespoke Jewellery at The Jewellers Guild: New Creations or Redesigning Something You Already Love

Bespoke jewellery is at the heart of what we do at The Jewellers Guild. Whether you are starting from scratch or reimagining a piece you already own, our aim is always the same, to create something meaningful, personal, and made just for you.
One of the most common questions we’re asked is about the difference between a completely new bespoke piece and redesigning existing jewellery. While the process is very similar, there are a few key differences that can help you decide which route is right for you.

Creating a Brand New Bespoke Piece
If you are starting with a blank canvas, we will source everything needed to bring your design to life, from precious metals to carefully selected gemstones.

The process begins with an initial consultation in store, where we take the time to understand your ideas, your budget, and any inspiration you may have gathered. From there, our in house goldsmith will develop CAD designs based on your discussion, allowing you to visualise the piece before it is made.

You will then be invited back for a second consultation to review the designs in detail and discuss pricing. This is your opportunity to refine the design, make any adjustments, and ensure everything feels just right. If further changes are needed, we will continue to develop the design until you are completely happy.

Once approved, your piece will be handcrafted in our workshop. From initial consultation to completion, the process typically takes around 10 weeks, or up to 12 weeks for more intricate designs.

Redesigning Existing Jewellery
For many customers, bespoke jewellery is not about starting from scratch, but about transforming something they already own into a new piece they can wear and enjoy again.

The process follows the same structure, but with one important difference, you provide the materials. This might include gold from unworn jewellery, inherited pieces, or gemstones that hold sentimental value.

During your initial consultation, you will bring in your jewellery for us to assess. We will carefully review the metals and stones, which allows us to design around the exact materials available. Using CAD, we create a new design based on the specific gram weight of gold and the size and shape of your stones.

Some customers choose to incorporate additional materials where needed, while others prefer to create a piece entirely from their existing jewellery. Both approaches are possible, depending on your vision.

The second consultation mirrors the process of a new bespoke piece, where designs and pricing are discussed and refined before moving forward. Lead times are also the same, typically around 10 weeks, or up to 12 for more detailed work.

Which Option is Right for You?
Choosing between a new bespoke piece and a redesign often comes down to what matters most to you.
If you are looking for complete creative freedom with carefully sourced materials, a brand new bespoke piece offers a true blank canvas.

If sentiment plays a key role, redesigning existing jewellery allows you to carry that meaning forward, transforming something unworn into something you will treasure again.

A Thoughtful Approach to Jewellery
Whichever route you choose, our approach remains the same. We take the time to understand your ideas, guide you through the process, and ensure every detail is carefully considered.

Bespoke jewellery is not just about the finished piece, it is about the journey of creating something that feels truly yours.

If you are considering a bespoke commission or would like to explore redesigning your existing jewellery, we would be delighted to welcome you in for a consultation.
