The Jewellers Journal: When the Weather’s Hot… Our Bench Is Hotter

As things are heating up outside, it’s also heating up in the Jewellers Guild workshops and not just because the polishing motors are working overtime. July has arrived with a full-on surge of restyling jobs, repairs, and “can you just have a look at this?” moments that keep our benches buzzing.

Restyling Season Is Officially Here!
We’re seeing more and more customers inheriting sentimental pieces that mean the world… but don’t quite match the style they’d actually wear. Think: Nan’s ring, gorgeous stones, but the vibe is more “Downton Abbey” than “Instagram chic.”

Luckily, this is where having an in‑house workshop becomes a superpower. We can scan your stones, create an exact digital version, and design the new piece around them, perfectly to size, perfectly to proportion, perfectly you.

Where some jewellers are limited to pre-made mounts designed for stones in set sizes, we get to do things the fun way: designing and creating the piece exactly to fit your stones, no compromises, no “closest match,” no “that’ll do.”

Keep an eye on our social media...Krizzie has captured some absolutely fantastic transformations lately. Proper Cinderella moments.

Repairs & Alterations: The Summer Surge
We’ve also seen a big increase in repairs and alterations coming through the door. And while we might not be the cheapest, we are the ones who take pride in every single job.

If a repair takes longer than we anticipated, we don’t rush it.
We don’t cut corners.
We don’t say “that’ll do.”
We make sure it’s done to the highest standard — because that’s the only standard we work to.

Sometimes, though, the best advice isn’t a repair at all.

Trigger’s Broom… But Make It Jewellery
Every now and then, a ring comes in that’s had a long, loyal life, especially engagement rings worn every day. The claws are worn, the shank is thin, the underbezel has seen better decades… and by the time you’ve replaced everything, the ring retains about as much of the original as Trigger’s broom.

In those cases, the best approach is often to melt the metal down and remake an exact replica.
Same look.
Same feel.
Same sentimental value.
Just… structurally sound again.

Pop In Anytime...Advice Is Free
Ultimately, we’re here to give the best advice, whether that’s a repair, a restyle, or a full remake. If you’ve got any concerns about a piece you own, even if it’s just a “does this look okay?” moment, pop in.

The advice costs nothing.
The peace of mind is priceless.
And we genuinely love helping.
